The Silver Lining

Via Yahoo, I found this Reuters story about scientists who found the thought-to-be-extinct pygmy tarsier. It’s always gratifying when animals surface from obscurity–at least it is to me–but what I really found heartwarming was the researcher who was bitten:

The tarsiers, which some scientists believed were extinct, may not have been overly thrilled to be found. One of them chomped Sharon Gursky-Doyen, a Texas A&M University professor of anthropology who took part in the expedition.

“I’m the only person in the world to ever be bitten by a pygmy tarsier,” Gursky-Doyen said in a telephone interview.

I like to think that’s exactly what I would have said, in the circumstances.

You know, I do think that is what you would say! Just a hunch…
